Thompson Engineering Taps Kendall Kilpatrick as Next CEO
POSTED ON 10/12/23
Thompson Engineering, a multi-disciplined engineering firm with offices in eight Southeastern states, announced Kendall Kilpatrick will be the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective January 1, 2024. Kilpatrick succeeds John Baker, who will remain CEO and Chairman of Thompson Holdings, the parent company of Thompson Engineering.
“This is an exciting time for Thompson Engineering because of the rapid growth we’re experiencing in multiple markets and service lines including geotechnical, transportation design, and nuclear quality assurance,” said Baker. “Kendall has the vision for continuing that growth and the experience to implement it. Equally important, he understands our clients’ expectations and recognizes what attracts and retains the talented employees who know how to exceed client expectations.”
Kilpatrick currently serves as the Buildings and Infrastructure Practice Leader at Thompson Engineering. Before joining Thompson in January 2023, he was Executive Vice President and Unit General Manager for global engineering firm Mott MacDonald. “One of the reasons I came to Thompson Engineering is its ownership culture. That culture is built on a foundation of transparency and trust that rewards employees who take the initiative to solve challenging problems. I have always found it rewarding in my career and believe our team members find it rewarding as well. I am excited to continue to build on that employee experience.”
Thompson Engineering announced two additional leadership promotions, also effective January 1, 2024. Scott Hardy will become Thompson Engineering’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). Hardy is currently Senior Vice President responsible for Thompson’s Engineering Design Practice. Prior to joining Thompson Engineering, he led Burk-Kleinpeter’s Alabama and Mississippi operations and served as the manager of roadway design for the state of Alabama at Michael Baker Corporation.
President Michael V. Manning’s responsibilities will expand to include those of Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). His new role will bring more focus to the business development and marketing efforts of the company.
