The Technip Theodore Spool Base is located on a 130-acre site on the north side of the Theodore Ship Channel. The facility fabricates pipe for the oil and gas industry in, primarily, the Gulf of Mexico. Thompson Engineering has a long history with this facility dating back to 2000, when Thompson provided the planning, engineering design, and construction management services for the construction of the original facility and then upgrades in 2002. The original facility included a pipe fab shop, a mile long roller and pipe rack production yard, a pipe storage yard, and a deep draft dock.
More recently, Thompson has assisted Technip with its Southeast Roller Line and Pipe Stalk Racks, and plans for a Northwest Stalk Line extension. During our 20-year history, we’ve also worked on the following projects:
Much of this work was accomplished with design-build delivery where Thompson was the prime. Other Thompson services include civil, geotechnical, and structural engineering; environmental compliance services; subsurface utility engineering; surveying; and cost estimating.
