Thompson Engineering performed multiple tasks related to the initial development, expansion, and construction of two gas handling and storage facilities for Sempra Pipelines and Storage at locations in Alabama and Mississippi.
Bay Gas Plant 2: Thompson provided site civil grading and drainage design, geotechnical engineering, construction quality assurance (QA), structural engineering for design of the compressor building foundation and structural slab, and dynamic machine analysis for the design of the compressor block foundation design.
4-Acre Laydown Area: Thompson provided surveying, civil design, geotechnical engineering, and construction QA services for the construction of a 4-acre laydown area adjacent to Plant 2 in support of an anticipated Plant 2 expansion. Thompson provided construction QA services and regulatory compliance inspections to assist Bay Gas Storage and the Contractor in the construction of the pad for fill usage optimization.
Disposal Well Pads and Access Road: Thompson provided surveying, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, structural engineering, and construction QA services in support of the development and design of three Brine Water Disposal Well locations.
Mississippi Hub: Due to highly variable terrain, geotechnical studies (initial and detailed) were provided for rough grading and site civil design recommendations and to support structural and mechanical design. Extensive Construction QA was performed during fill placement.
Plant Drainage and Erosion Improvements: Thompson provided civil and environmental permitting and regulatory compliance services for this initiative. In addition to the plant site, Thompson provided permanent stabilization and erosion design control and inspection for various locations along pipeline easements and metering stations.
