Mobile Area Council of Engineers Recognizes Weber, Gibbs

Two Thompson Engineering employees were recognized by the Mobile Area Council of Engineers (MACE) at the organization’s annual awards banquet. Each year, MACE pays tribute to the success of individuals who enhance the engineering profession through their contributions to the industry, education, and the community.
2022 Civil Engineer of the Year
Jake Gibbs, P.E. was posthumously honored as Civil Engineer of the Year. Gibbs devoted his expertise to Thompson Engineering for 20 years and impacted communities from Mobile to South America. Gibbs worked for local municipalities, utility authorities, developers, and military installations, and performed disaster relief and humanitarian aid projects throughout Central and South America as an extension of the U.S. Government and the Army Corps of Engineers. Gibbs died in October 2021 after a long illness. Thompson Engineering established a scholarship in his name to honor his life and legacy. American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) Outstanding Engineer
Charles Weber, P.E. was named the 2022 American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) Outstanding Engineer. Weber is Vice President of the Alabama Section of ASCE (2022) and is a past president of the Mobile Branch. In his volunteer role for ASCE, Weber plays an important role in implementing marketing, membership, and fundraising tactics for the organization. Weber joined Thompson Engineering in 2020 and is a licensed civil engineer in Alabama and Florida. He manages a team from Thompson Engineering’s office in Orange Beach, AL.
