Landscape architecture is the integration of the built and natural world. When done right, landscape architecture benefits both people and the environment. Have you ever visited a shopping center with wide, shaded sidewalks and convenient parking? Have you avoided an area because the lighting is poor at night or because rainwater floods the parking lot during a storm? Professional landscape architecture creates experiences between people and outdoor spaces that feel safe and enjoyable.
For cities, developers, and business owners, creating pleasant outdoor spaces is critical. Well-designed landscapes encourage people to visit and stay longer, therefore creating economic benefits. Smart landscapes meet regulatory codes and respect the natural environment. Low impact designs eliminate stormwater issues and protect our natural resources. In short, landscape architecture creates places where people want to live, work, and play.
Through our affiliated company Watermark Design Group, we work with city leaders, developers, and other consultants to provide professional landscape architecture services that accomplish your growth goals with the least impact on the environment. We plan and design traditional places such as parks, campuses, commercial centers, and resorts, and we restore natural spaces such as wetlands, stream corridors, greenways, and wildlife habitats. In everything we do, we are dedicated to the design of healthy outdoor environments and communities that combine art and science to enhance everyday experiences.
A campus expansion is a big project and we needed help prioritizing our needs and wants. The Thompson/Watermark team hosted a visioning session with our senior leadership group and helped us conceptualize the project. They also presented options that allowed us to see the pros and cons of different solutions. Ultimately, this information helped us create a timeline and budget for our expansion.
