As Executive Vice-President of Transportation, James H. “Jimmy” Shumock is responsible for the growth of Thompson’s transportation business. He is the Executive Consultant and Lead Executive to the Alabama Department of Transportation on the Mobile River Bridge and Bayway project. He also holds Board of Director responsibilities for Thompson Engineering and its affiliated companies.
Jimmy formerly served as Chairman and CEO of Thompson Engineering from 2007 to May 2017, and was Chief Financial Officer from 1996 –2007. Jimmy joined Thompson in 1983. During his 30+-year tenure, his expertise in corporate finance, government relations, and project management helped the company grow throughout the Southeast Region.
Jimmy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of South Alabama in 1980. He is a Certified Public Accountant. In 2010, Jimmy was appointed to the Board of Trustees for the University of South Alabama. He also serves on the USA National Alumni Association Board, is the president of the Jaguar Athletic Fund, and recently received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the USA National Alumni Association.
