Geotechnical drilling is one of our service specialties. We’ve been continuously improving our skills and processes since our company was founded in 1953. Because of our experience, we provide practical and cost-effective protocols on every geotechnical drilling project in any environment. Whether it’s rough terrain or drilling over water, we seek out the challenges in our industry and make our response standard procedure.

Our project list includes a number of diverse projects, from offshore gas exploration and pipelines to industrial facilities and ports and harbors. We play a critical role in your project’s success and can work with anyone on your team, from industrial plant manager to design engineer.

Drilling is hard work often performed in precarious conditions. So safety always comes first. We don’t begin work until proper job safety and environmental assessments are made, including the identification of existing underground conditions, utilities/structures, sensitive environmental areas, and traffic hazards.

Thompson Engineering owns and operates truck-mounted and all-terrain track rigs. The rubber tracks minimize wear on paved surfaces. Our equipment can work on soft ground sites, wooded hillsides, and shorelines. We also operate over-water, utilizing a company-owned barge for inland and near-shore work. Our equipment is also designed to operate offshore, mounted to leased barges and is capable of drilling in water depths up to 500 feet.
