The Thompson Foundation awarded $51,550 dollars in grants to community non-profits and school programs in January 2022. “The majority of the grants the foundation committee considers are employee-involvement grants,” said Chad Brown, Chairman of the Thompson Foundation. “This means an employee is actively involved with an organization at the time of the funding request. We are always wowed in the ways our employees get involved in community organizations and we are proud to assist those organizations with their activities.”
Some of the organizations receiving funding in January include:
- Feeding the Gulf Coast
- Gulf Coast Center for Ecotourism and Sustainability
- Habitat for Humanity
- Infirmary Health Foundation
- Ijams River Rescue
- Lifelines Counseling Services
- Thomas Hospital Foundation
- YMCA East Tennessee
- Child Advocacy Center
- Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital
In addition to employee-involvement grants, the Thompson Foundation prioritizes grants with a STEM focus. Of the most recent round of grant approvals, those with a STEM focus totaled $19,800. They include:
- ACE Mentor Program (Chattanooga)
- STEM Goes Red, American Heart Association
- ArtsBuild
- Chattanooga Public Library
- Dream Architecture, Alabama Center for Architecture
- Girls Inc.
- Moon Buggy Program at Fairhope High School
- Dauphin Island Sea Lab
- Alabama School of Math and Science
