Comterra Development contacted Thompson Engineering to provide assistance with the development of Saraland Crossings, a multi-use retail center in the rapidly growing area of Saraland, Alabama. The site is anchored by a Publix grocery store with a number of out-building retail/restaurant spaces.
Thompson Engineering was involved from initial stages of planning and provided various preliminary site plans as the vision for the ultimate plan was developed. Upon finalization of the preliminary plan, Thompson Engineering performed boundary and topographic survey of the site; prepared hydraulic/hydrologic models for the proposed development; and provided a comprehensive site design for the new Publix facility to meet all Publix criteria as well as development standards of the City of Saraland. Thompson Engineering submitted for preliminary plat approval with a complete construction document package that included design of roads, parking, drainage water supply, and sanitary sewage collection.
In addition to obtaining approval from Publix and the City of Saraland, Thompson Engineering prepared sedimentation and erosion control plans and provided Comterra with a complete package for permitting construction through the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM). Our staff also provided monthly and rain event inspections per ADEM permit requirements as well as construction administration.
