Georgia Pacific, one of the world’s leading makers of tissue, pulp, paper, packaging, building products and related chemicals, has been heavily investing in facilities throughout the Southeast. Thompson Engineering has worked for Georgia Pacific at many of its facilities, including the Naheola Mill in Pennington, Alabama. The mill makes coated and uncoated cups and plates and is in the process of adding a new $120 million tissue machine.
Thompson has been onsite since 2017 providing construction inspection and materials testing services. Some of the projects we have worked on include the construction of a biomass boiler, new distribution center, woodyard, and the new tissue machine. As the go-to inspector, we partner with onsite contractors for civil projects. We advise contractors on the placement of materials, compaction testing, proctor testing,and laboratory testing to make sure the design is carried through construction.
