The Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in Mobile, AL has seen a rebirth with the recruitment of aerospace, manufacturing and transportation companies you know like Airbus, FedEx, and Honeywell. To serve these businesses, the mixed-use industrial complex required infrastructure improvements.
Thompson Engineering served as the Engineer/Program Manager for infrastructure improvements to include repaving and realignment of roads and streets and the repair and replacement of surface and sub-surface drainage infrastructure, as well as improvements to landscaping and signage.
As part of this work, Thompson provided as-built topographic survey of all roadways, buildings, drainage structures and piping, and utility line location for both the East and West side of the Mobile Aeroplex. As the Design Engineer for the program, Thompson was responsible for the production of construction documents for each phase of the infrastructure improvement and advertising drawings for bid. Working with the Mobile Airport Authority, Thompson also chose contractors to perform the work. Thompson provided full-time, on-site resident project representative services in addition to traditional construction services normally provided by the Design Engineer.
