Thompson Engineering’s 2015 Funky Monkey 5K & Fun Run raised $16,000 for the Thompson Foundation, the largest amount raised in the event’s four years. The event is managed by Thompson employees who plan, promote and volunteer at the event each year. “Our employees support the Thompson Foundation in many ways throughout the year,” said Jimmy Shumock, CEO. “This is one of our favorites, and combines many things that our company values including fitness, fun, a family-friendly atmosphere and philanthropy.”
Corporate sponsorships and more than 450 race registrations helped the Funky Monkey reach this year’s record fundraising amount. Participants from age 3 – 77 participated, and represented six states and Canada.
As it has every year, the Funky Monkey awarded the charity with the most participation at the event a $1,000 grant. The 2015 Charity Challenge winner is Gulf Coast Dementia Services, a group with the mission of enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with or affected by Alzheimers’ or dementia.
Thompson employees are already looking forward to the 5th anniversary event, scheduled for March 5, 2016.
